I was out of brown gel coloring and all the store had was paste. This paste is thick, a lot like set up jello. It didn't desolve in water, didn't mix worth a darn in the RI, so now what do I try? HELP! TIA

It should dissolve, so I'm not sure what the problem might be. You could try letting it set and them re-mixing with a wooden spoon.

If you have to start over, take a small amount of the paste and mix it wil a bit of alcohol, or vanilla into a smoother more liquid coloring.

I'll give a bit of alcohol a try, also I'll see if letting it sit in some water for a time does the trick. Thank you, I've never used the paste before and was quite surprised by the consistency, and that it didn't desolve.
