What Do You Think About Charging Per Lb. For Cake & Cook

I just returned from a NY trip. There was a gormet bakery in a grocery store there. I believe the name was WEGMAN'S. All I can say is that the bakery looked fabulous!!! I believe thery were charging 9.99 per lb. for there decorated cookies, pasteries and cakes. I think I like the idea. What are your thoughts? detective.gif

It works well in a storefront when you have a variety of items and people can pick one at a time. It is more difficult for the average customer, they need to know how many 'pieces' or servings they will have.

That said, I usually sell cookies by the batch. Except for wedding favors, they are priced each. That way someone cannot order 8 cookies. Without a store front, it works better.

My brother and SIL live in Nicaragua and that is how most of the bakeries there sell their goods. When I make a cake they always ask me "how many pounds was it?" icon_lol.gif
