I have an order for a cake for a lingerie shower. The gal wants it to look like a boustier hanging on a satin wrapped coat hanger. Where can I buy the stuff to make the fondant look like satin and does it just brush on? Is it hard to do? Is it expensive?

I imagine you can use luster dust mixed with a bit of clear alcohol (like gin or vodka) or even lemon juice to brush it on. Others have brushed it on dry without a problem.

Me? I have yet to try it. icon_wink.gif

HTH!

I just bought my first little tube of silver lusterdust and of course had to have a play around icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif , even if you brush it on dry you get a great satin shiny effect, for the satin hanger you should go for a pearly white colour icon_smile.gif
I bought mine on ebay as I can't get it here it was about $4.50 for a small tube but easily goes a long way.

Thanks, Shola. I'll coast over to ebay and see if I can find some. I think this will be a fun cake. I love carved cakes.
