I'm curious to know if anyone has ever tried using those "dried strawberries" in a filling? I am a little concerned that using fresh they will "ooze" as berries usually do and make the cake mushy. I made some icing and used fresh strawberries with it for a filling and this is what I found happened. Any thoughts on it?

They don't have much texture, and will absorb every little bit of moisture to reconstitute themselves, then be beyond mushy.
Cooked berries provide a better filling, or cut berries for a short time.
