but I'm a complete newbie.... I have been using all shortening BC and wanted to try a recipe that is part butter and part Crisco....will this need to be refridgerated??

Sorry if this is a dumb question!! LOL

check the recipe section....it is all a matter of taste. I was taught to use shortening and butter....really up to you, but I like the combo better. Pat

It is perfectly safe to leave this out of the refridgerator for a few days. If you mix it and won't be using it for a few days, pop it in the fridge, just remember to take it out a few hours before you need to ice the cake with it.

i use indydebi's buttercream recipe and even though her recipe is all shortening, i often use 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening as i like the butter taste. i've never had a problem leaving it out for a few days.

Or you can use Butter Flavored Crisco.
