i plan to make a tall gift box cake and want to cover it with fondant. am worried that if i cover it in one piece the weight of the fondant will pull it down and cause it to tear. should i try doing it in pieces? have never done that. don't know if i have cause to be concerned-welcome your opinions!

It might take four hands but I roll the fondant out on a sheet of vinyl and make sure the vinyl and fondant match along one end, so I can stand the vinyl up on edge and wrap the cake. I used that technique on a column cake and it worked quite well. I hope that makes sense
