Question About Painting On Fondant

I have the wilton gel ( i guess that what it is called) and I mixed it with ever clear and it it would mix a little but glob up and it never got thick just runny.....What did I do wrong? I mean it work out for what I was doing. but I was only doing a very small amount. Just want to know....Am I using the wrong color?

Americolor gels are more liquid. You can also use powders/dusts mixed with alcohol to get better 'paint' than the thick gels from Wilton.
