Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what glycerine is. Where can I buy it and is there any substitution for it? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you so much.

I buy it at the cake supply store. It comes in a small bottle and I use it in royal icing to prevent it from becoming as hard when I use it on fondant.

I need it for a rolled buttercream recipe and I can't find it any where in my area. I don't have time to order it. What would happen if I left it out.

You will need it, it is not really something you can sub for, I have bought it at Michaels and Walmart, it is in the "Wedding/Cake" aisle, and is in a bottle from Wilton same size as the butter flavor and vanilla flavor, HTH!

You can buy it at the health food store, for example Sun Harvest. I bought a 16 oz bottle there for $8. I've also seen it at CVS pharmacy, in the section with the Spanish-label medicines.
