Frosting Problems For Wedding Cake

I use Sugarshack's recipe and method for making frosting...never had a problem until April. I made the frosting and it was awful, didn't crust, was gritty and greasy. I attributed it to using different ingredients.

This week I have a wedding cake due on Saturday (trying to finish it Friday night for the person to put the flowers on). I started making the frosting. Because they want ivory I used butter flavored crisco for part of the shortening. I always use crisco and so far never had a problem. I need to make a lot so I started making it early. I made two batches, which were perfect, smooth and not greasy or gritty. However on the last batch it turned out greasy and gritty. I followed the exact same instructions, used the same ingredients, so I don't quite understand why that happened.

I am going to have to make several more batches today after I get more ingredients. Can anyone tell me what I might have done or offer suggestions so I don't have that problem again?

Thanks!!! Sandi
