This may be a really stupid question to some people but I just started experimenting with fondant. I want to do a small version of jen_g_is ski cake but I want to use a buttery chocolate icing on the cakes and then just lay the top white piece of fondant over that. Will the icing affect my fondant? Will it seep through? Thanks for any help you can give!

You should be more than fine. Just make sure to be careful not to get any of the icing on top of the fondant. I put fondant over ganache all the time with no problems. icon_smile.gif

no question is stupid. it should work fine. think of it this way, you would use buttercream on the cake before you completely cover it in fondant, so the only difference here is that you are going to fully ice the cake in bc then use the white as an accent.
