A friend asked me if I would make a camping theme birthday cake for her 6-year-old son. My initial thoughts are grass, trees, tents, and maybe water with rocks around it (because I have some candy rocks I am just dying to use). I have used water and grass on a cake. If anyone has tips and techniques for tents and trees and anything else you want to suggest -- I would really appreciate it. CC'ers are the BEST.
Well if you can wait until this weekend, I can post a picture of the one I'm making. I'm using Debbie Brown's ideas from her camping cake. You can google her site and there's a photo there under her 50 Easy Cakes. It's basically a cake in a tent shape, covered with fondant and with a few fondant figures. I added a bonfire with toasting marshmellows and some rocks/flowers to mine too. Good luck!
Here are a couple that were in my favs, done by some of the talented people on this site. Hopefully they will give you some ideas! HTH!
