I am making my first wedding cake on Saturday. It is going to be a five tier square, stacked cake with a ribbon on each tier. What is the best way to attach the ribbon? Do you use tape or could I use a straight pin? I was thinking that I could use the larger pins with the big pearlized heads on them. Would that work?

Also, how do the bride and groom cut the cake with the ribbon on? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I use the corsage pins with the pearl heads - I think it is pretty. The bride and groom can still make the ceremonial "cut" in the top part of the tier for pictures, etc. but they don't have to cut all the way down. Then the ribbon is just removed by whoever is going to be cutting up the cake.
