I'm considering making a wedding gown cake similar to this and others seen on CC.

Can anybody share tips for planning and placing the fondant pieces to make a nice dress? This will be new for me.

thanks,

Best thing I can suggest is try out working with some fondant off of the back of your pan. First you will get a feel for it and then you can better manage what you will do. You will have to play with the shape a bit depending what type of cake shape you have. If you dont have fondant to try, maybe use some type of material to get an idea.

I hope this helps. I made a couple of cakes and I tried it out first check out my pics.

Good Luck.

Thanks. I have suggested to other people to use the back of their pan to practice and plan things, but wouldn't have thought of it myself.
