For those of you who have made book cakes... when you carved them did you indent the book for the pages? I am making a stack of books for my daughter's graduation cake this week. I was thinking of carving in a little for the pages but am afraid it will be too weak for the book cover if carved away. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

No, I don't cut away cake to allow for pages. After icing w/ BC I use the serrated edge scraper to make "pages" then I trim the cake w/ tip 12 to make the cover. Then smooth. I hope that makes sense.
