I was fine with this cake two weeks ago. Then I joined CC and there are sooo many things I'm suddenly worried about. Please help me here!

-It's a 8, 10, 12... do I need cake boards/plates between the tiers?
-Do I really need to dowel the cake?
-By request, the chocolate is the top layer with yellow and white under it. Am I setting myself up for failure or is this do-able?

Calm yourself, grasshopper, you can do it.

The order of the flavors matters not. You can stack them any which way you choose.

Yes, you need to dowel. Yes, you will need cake plates or cardboards under each cake.

I usually (before I got my stress free supports) wrapped my cardboards in clear contac paper. Then I supported each cake with dowels underneath it. For the bottom cake I'd have at least 8 dowels, for the middle one at least 5. Some might use less, but I'm paranoid, so I always used more than I thought was the minimum.

Good luck, be sure to post pictures!
