What is the best way to get a true back fondant? Am I right to say that the best way to make black buttercream is to make chocolate buttercream first and then tint it black?
Well, the best way to get black fondant is to buy it precolored. But starting from chocolate (if that flavor works) and then tinting black is good. For black, I really prefer using the powdered colors as they don't increase the moisture in the fondant.
If you are making your own fondant, use the Americolor Super Black it is the best- and it works great on white buttercream also, no need to use chocolate to start with.
