This was on my local news recently and I googled the name and found this pic that I tried to download for those of you who haven't seen this yet but wasn't able to. It's a pic of a wedding cake that looks like the bride. This is the url where you can see a few pix of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/uchephoto/1536794919/in/set-72157602356874872/

That's nuts! She must have a big ego and a checkbook to go with it.

I've seen this before too, and if I remember right ~ much of the "cake" was styrofoam and the entire bust & head was a clay sculpture the bride had commissioned an artist to create for her. Still kinda creeps me out though!

FYI, this has already been posted on here...thread was most likely lost back when the server change happened.

I know I wouldn't want anyone sticking a knife in my effigy...!

I too have seen it before and I think that is probably the freakiest thing I have ever seen before when it comes to cakes. I know there is an artist somewhere who does them of hollywood celebs and all for showpiece, but to have your own image made into a cake for your wedding.... FREAKY... I wonder if they used red velvet cake icon_smile.gif hehehehehe

The bodice and head part was for sale after this wedding. I can't recall how much they were asking, but it was at least $1900.

She tried to sell her head?? icon_confused.gif She didn't want to keep it? I wonder if anyone bought it?

The woman who owns the shop who made the cake was on one of those afternoon judge tv shows.

It's creepy yes, but did anyone bother to take a look at any of the other pictures?? That wedding costed a fortune - wish I was one of the vendors!!!

so where would you start cutting on a cake like this? if they sold the head does that mean they just chopped it off? i'm sorry i wouldn't be too thrilled being served a piece of someone's arm or their nose. creepy cake in my opinion

Yes, sassycleo, I did look at some of the other pictures and yep, I bet it did cost a fortune. Did you see the length of the train on her train? icon_surprised.gif And just the dress itself - it looks like it had to be custom made - beautiful.

From what I remember reading about this cake was that the head and bodice were NOT cake, but specially made for the cake.

Ugh. Selling the head and bodice part. That's just plain trashy. I guess they spent so much on HER wedding (where was the groom?) they had to try and recoup any monies they could.

A thought: Judging from some of the photographs of the reception it was influenced by an ethnic community different from the usual northern European-descended traditions. I suspect there may be a custom of having a personal likeness of some sort involved with the ceremony, so it may not be so weird for that ethnic group as for most CC members.

Brendaonline, I agree. I believe that this may be a part of a wedding celebration tradition. I don't think this is a matter of ego. You know, there are people who find the tradition of the groom going underneath the bride's dress to remove the garter with his teeth tasteless and disrespectful but in America it is considered all in good fun. Anywho, I do love the beautiful and richly colored clothing of the guests.
