Hello CCers:
I just bought this canon printer for edible images and Iâm not sure
If I have to order the edible ink with or without chipsâ¦the price difference
between with and without is big and I donât want to order the wrong thing.

The printer came with the regular cartridges.

Thank you for your help.

i'm wondering if it's because of the type of printer you have. i had the ip3000.

I think you need the chip. I have that printer, bought the ones without the chip (they didn't have them then) and mine doesn't work. I've been too busy to deal with it lately, but now that I see they offer the ones with a chip, I think that's the problem I'm having. Call the customer service where you are buying your cartridges and make sure.

You can either buy the ones with the chip, or you can buy the ones without and take the chip from the ink that came with the printer and put it on the edible ink cartridges.

I see you have the cartridges installed in the printer... you haven't printed with them have you? You can't use the printer for edible ink if you've run real ink through the printer.

If you buy the ones without the chip, they give you instructions on how to install the chips on them.

I was so excited with my printed that I run it with the real ink!

I'm so retarded!... now what???
Can I buy those Cleaning Cartridges and run them to get the real ink out???

Please don't tell me the printer is useless now.... icon_cry.gif

I don't know 100% for sure, but I'm almost positive that those cleaning cartridges won't clean all of the ink out of the printer. From what I've read, everyone's pretty clear that you cannot ever use a printer for edible images that has ever had "real" ink run through it.
