What Is Desiccated Coconut?? Help!

I want to do a coconut cake layer on my sons Bday cake but the recipe calls for "desiccated coconut" is this unsweetened coconut shreds??? Anyone know?

Yes ohare it is unsweetened shreds of coconut.

dessicated sounds like disecado in spanish so maybe it means dryed coconut flakes

You can find desiccated coconut at Indian markets. Excellente quality and good prices. thumbs_up.gif
