I just got a couple of 6x2 cake pans, and so far haven't had much luck with them! I followed the directions on the pans - measure out 2 cups of batter and bake for 25-30 mins at 350. But they aren't cooking in the middle, the top is over done and they sink. HELP! What am I doing wrong? Is my oven too hot? Is it something I am doing with the mix? I'm new to baking and cake decorating- so any advice would be really welcome!

Thanks!

Are you baking them too close to the heat source? I bake at 325F and anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes longer. I put them rack in the middle of the oven.
