I normally just frost in buttercream... but my boss is pregnant and wants yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I am doing a design on top with fondant accents... should I use chocolate buttercream? I've never made it, or should I choose a rich chocolate frosting? Any suggestions???
Add chocolate ganache to your regular buttercream....mmmmm.....
I don't have a good chocolate decorator's icing, either. Right now, I only do chocolate in the whipped cream frosting, which is very soft, so I can't do flowers or anything with it.
Hopefully, someone will give us their secrets to a great chocolate frosting!
There is a good one in recipes called "Chocolate Decorator's Buttercream" YUM! A couple of tips: I use 3 squares of chocolate instead of 2 and a double batch can ice a 2 layer 9" round with some leftover. Good luck!
I just made chocolate icing today. I used the Buttercream dream recipe and added 3/4 cup of hersheys cocoa. Everyone keeps commenting on how it tastes like chocolate mousse. It as my first time making and using chocolate buttercream and I would recommend it to others.
