What am I doing wrong? after I add the concentrated color to my icing I get these white specks throughout the frosting, as if it's not blending well together. I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Can anybody help?

It could be several different things. If you use salt, then it might not have dissolved before you added the color. Try dissolving the salt in a small amount of hot water before adding it to your frosting.

If your shortening is a little bit stiff, then warm it slightly in the microwave so that it will blend better.

It could also be powdered sugar spots. Sift your powdered sugar before using if the other ideas don't work.

There could be other problems causing the spots. It's been a while since I made colored frosting so I could be forgetting something. Maybe someone here will have more answers.
