i'm making a sheet cake with a figure 8 race track on the top of it. I just need to know what would you use to make the track with crushed up oreo's or chocolate chip cookies. the oreo's would look like black top and the chocolate chip would look like a dirt track. I have been given free range on this cake. they told me to do whatever.

I'd use the Oreos to make it look like a blacktop... A blacktop is just what comes to my mind when thinking of a race track - I'm watching racing on a blacktop race track right now!

I agree. I'd go for the Oreos.

Another vote for the oreos! thumbs_up.gif The chocolate chip "dirt" track would be awesome for someone who likes dirt-biking/motocross.

I vote for the black fondant too, a lot less messy!

If they will let you do fondant that would be the best. It would look a lot better. But if cookies is all you can do then oreos.

If you don't have ready made black fondant, oreos are so much easier. Plus, if you food process it, the white insides get totally incorporated into the black and you don't even see it...you just get a nice crumb.

I used black fondant on the ones I have done. I think there is one in my photos.

thanks so much for all the responses. i think i will use the oreo's . They really don't care for fondant so i will have to use cookies.
