i want a good light spongy cake and so i was thinking of making a chiffon cake. has anyone tried it?is it easy to make?
alot of the recipes that ive seen for a chiffon cake requires a tube pan which i don't have, does that mean i cant use a regular rpound pan?or square pan?

I like chiffon cakes. They are nice and light and moist. I like RLB's Lemon Chiffon in the cake bible. I have made them as layer cakes. Grease the bottom only and line with parchment paper. Do not grease the sides. Although good, a little too spongy for a usual layer cake in my opinion. You can google 2 egg chiffon cake recipes for better chiffon layer cake recipes. I'd personally just reduce the amount of eggs called for by about 1/3.

I like the Alton Brown Chiffon Cake recipe. Go to Food Network and look it up. It is incredibly easy and tastes wonderful!
