I have been thinking of a name for my cake business and need help. Basically I had a whole list of cutsie names but..
My brother passed away unexpectantly the day before Easter (he was 29) . He was my biggest fan and also helped me alot with designs, he was a fantastic artist. I wanted to do a name that is kind of in his honor. My brothers name was Nick, so I at first thought of Nicky's Cakes, but decided no. So, the bottom line is my brother was obsessed with our Italian heritage. He always added the emblem "GFP" at the bottom of his art and it stood for Goodfella Productions. In his honor I thought maybe I would call my "business" Goodfella Cakes.
I am just not sure how it sounds, what impression it may leave, etc. Of course I am biased because my heart is attached to that name for obvious reasons.
Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I like Goodfella Cakes.
This may be too corny:
Nick of Time Cakes
Honoring your brother is very sweet! Good luck w/ your business!
being italian myself... i LOVE it. of course some may not like it or get it but if you love it and want to honor your brother, go ahead. its a very nice name and i love it.
I like it. My only hesitation is that Godfellas is also the name of a not great pizza chain...

Is that like Godfather's Pizza?
I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. I think it's absolutely appropriate for you to include him in your passion, since he was such a strong supporter of you.
I like the Goodfella Cakes idea. It honors your personal memory of him, and for those who don't know anything about you, it brings up an image of a nice regular guy/gal who people could work with easily.
I like the "Nick of Time Cakes", too - knowing your situation, it kind of keeps your brother with you as time goes on. BUT because customers won't generally know about him, my only concern with that would be that some people might think they can get their cake orders in at the last minute and get things done just "in the nick of time..."
Let us know what you decide.
Best wishes for your business!
Annie
