I've never had it or heard of it till I came here. Tonight I was making a pumpkin spice cake and thought maple buttercream would be yummy as a filling and icing. I googled, found a basic recipe, and made it. OMG... it is so, so good! I love maple buttercream, lol.

So... do any of you make it and if so, what cake flavors does it taste good with?

It goes with everything! In my books anyway!

Chocolate, vanilla, golden, spiced (pumpkin, carrot, zuchini), oatmeal...maybe not lemon though!

I like to make a maple BC, and blend it with 1 cup of chopped walnuts that have been toasted in 1 T butter. Of course, real maple syrup! It makes a good filling for a butter cake.
