Can I add cocoa powder or chocolate pudding to a white cake mix to get a soft chocolate cake? I need to make a dozen cupcakes (1/2 white - 1/2 chocolate) and I have zero time (and no vehicle) to make it to the store...

You can add any of the following:

hershey's chocolate syrup to the mix (sut some of the water)

melted chocolate (bar, candy melts, chocolate bark)

cocoa powder (mix thoroughly into white cake mix so there are no white specs in cake)

pudding (same as cocoa)

I have had to do this from time to time. Keep in mind, it won't have that rich chocolate taste, but it will be mild chocolate--kind of like milk chocolate...

Thanks for that!

Is it possible to make a batch of white cake mix, make 12 cupcakes and then add the pudding to the remaining batch of cake mix to make the chocolate ones? These are strictly vehicles for the frosting, but we need the brown/white contrast of the vanilla and chocolate cake...
