Does anyone have a good recipe for a buttercream filling. Something that is not a frosting. I have done a search online on other sites and have found very few. I even found one that uses vanilla pudding. NOT what I am looking for. I found mocha buttercream filling on here and a chocolate one but nothing that is just plain ol'.......!

I would appreciate any good tried and true recipe!

I had no idea buttercream filling was anything other than b/c frosting.

Perhaps if you could provide more info on what it's supposed to be like (as compared to just plain b/c frosting), I could do an internet search for you.

A filling that is not as thick and sugary as a frosting. Something light and smooth in texture.

I'm hoping there is something out there. I have Sylvia Weinstock's book and she has a recipe in there but it makes a HUGE amount and I do not need but just a cup or two at the most.

I've never heard of that either, but perhaps Italian Merengue icing. I've heard that it's smoother/silkier than regular icing. You can find the recipe here. It's called Vanilla Italian Merengue...

The cooked custard frostings are light, creamy & not as sweet as American b/c.
