Has anyone made shugarshacks buttercreme without using the hi ratio shortening? did it work or turn out well? If not where do you buy hi ratio shortening?

JJ I believe you can use your recipe and just follow her steps to get the same effect that her icing has icon_smile.gif .. I have used a different recipe and just used her method of mixing and it turned out wonderfully icon_smile.gif

Yes, I use the new Crisco, 0 trans fat, & have no problems with it at all. Everyone loves it. I just store the extra in a plastic bucket with a tight fitting lid. It does not need refrigeration.

You can order hi ratio shortening from global sugar art. It's called Sweetex. I just switched to this and I think that it is a whole lot easier to smooth out than the crisco that I used before. Good Luck! icon_smile.gif

You can also buy Sweetex at www.thebakerskitchen.net and it is $7.99 for 4 pounds. Some places are much higher.
