I forgot to put the support dowels in my cake. Its a 8" and 6" stacked, its completly assembled with the borders and center dowel and bow on top.
Will it be ok or do I need to take it apart and dowel it?
I would be really afraid the weight of the 6 inch will cause the 8 inch to collapse. I'd dowel it.
Depending on the flavor of the 6" cake (white vs carrot) you should be o.k.
Also where and how is it being moved? Long distance by customer or from your kitchen to the living room? Sitting until pick up tomorrow or served tonight?
Personally I'd leave it alone.
Its WASC cake with bc filling, I deliver it tomorrow morning about 25 mins away and its been in the fridge for about 7 hours now with no problems.
I'm really afraid I will do more damage taking it apart to dowel it.
I'd dowel it, especially since WASC is such a heavy cake. I would think it would be better to dowel it now and risk messing up the cake with having time to fix it than to not dowel it, risk it and not have time to fix it tomorrow.
(after I had a small doc. cake on top of a sheet cake with very few dowels and it sunk I'm always really chicken about it happening again.)
