Hi All,

This is my first time actually selling a pound cake. What would be a good price to charge for it? Thanks for your help.

I suggest that it will depend on the type of cake and the ingredients used in your recipe. My pound cakes start at $20 for a basic cake and go up from there. I used Cake Boss to determine my costs and then decided on my markup.

Thanks QueenBee. That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure if that was too much. I do make my pound cakes from scratch. Thanks again!

I think that $20 for a basic pound cake is quite fair - I know my ingredients alone are up around $7 or $8. If I start adding things like dried fruits, liquors, Belgian chocolate...it just goes up.
