I have read topic after topic and I haven't found any information on whether you have to be licensed to bake/decorate cakes from home in Louisiana. Please helppppppppp!!! I have been doing cakes for about a year now and I would love to advertise but I'm not sure how to do it legally. Thanks for all your help!!! icon_smile.gif

I am in Louisiana. You can't bake from inside your home. It has to be a separate facility, & meet local Health Dept. requirements. In my case, we had an outdoor kitchen that I rennovated to meet specs, so I didn't have to invest lots of money, or rent expensive space. Your best bet is to call your local Health Unit, & ask them what you need to do in order to be licensed. I had to register with the Sec. of State, get a federal tax ID #, etc. It seems like a lot, but it's really not that bad.
