indydebi's frosting recipe work very well with the new Crisco:

Or perhapsvrmcc1's high humidity b/c recipe:
(Using new Crisco.)

More than a few members switched to hi-ratio shortenings when Crisco reformulated....

Everything you ever wanted to know about hi-ratio shortening:

I haven't had problems with the Wal-mart brand all-veg. shortening. It still has the 2.5 g trans fat. Make SURE you get the ALL-VEG! The cans look very similar and you don't want shortening with meat fats! YUCK! tapedshut.gif (<-that's the vomit face)

If you use indydebi's recipe, the dream whip has trans fat so it doesn't matter that the new Crisco doesn't.

I can say that I accidentally bought the wrong shortening with meat fat at Wal-Mart! Yuck! It made my icing really funky. It is still in my pantry, but I just use it to grease pans now.
