My friends and family love my cakes and know I'm into teaching myself to decorate..... i was asked could i so a cake in brown and blue for a shower so I searched CC and found a cake loaded by hollyw567 i tried to make a similar on but with fondant... they all thought it was so beautiful but i know i could have done better..... cracks in the fondant? pour fondant? rolled fondant ?(i used wilton rolled fondant) or homemade which is easier.

Home made fondant certainly tastes better the Wilton, but commercial fondant can be a bit easier to work with.

If the fondant is cracking, it is too dry. If you are rolling it out on sugar or cornstarch, try rolling it on a plastic sheet (from the fabric store) You can also use the plastic to help apply the fondant.

Poured fondant is really only for tiny cakes, petit fours and possible cookies.
