I was just wondering....a friend gave me the following recipe, and I am wondering how long it should last for! I want to use it to make decorations for my daughters first birthday cake.
Rolled Buttercream Fondant
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup shortening
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp clear vanilla
2 pounds icing sugar
In large bowl stir together shortening and corn syrup. Mix in salt and vanilla. Gradually add sugar until it makes a stiff dough. Knead by hand. Add more sugar if sticky until smooth. Store in airtight container at room container or fridge.
This sounds like the rolled buttercream icing recipe in the recipe section. It should last several weeks.
