Can anyone tell me if I put an edible image on chocolate icing, will it turn the white in the image brown?

Could you make a fondant or gumpaste plaque the same size as the edible image and put the image on top of that and then on top of the cake?

I have a photo in my gallery of an edible image on a light chocolate BCI, take a look and see for yourself, it really isn't too bad.
