I tried that once.. my balls kept getting bigger and bigger

I should add that the bigger your loop.. the thicker the wire should be. 28ga wire wouldn't support a big/wide loop.

If you make a cone-shaped ball of fondant you won't have to add more as the bow gets bigger.
