I have an order for a german chocolate with traditional icing but could I please figure out a way to put Happy Birthday on it?

Any ideas!

For the cake below I molded a chocolate plaque, piped the birthday message on, then mounted it to a lollipop stick and stuck it into the cake.

Wow, that is one delicious cake! You could always just place the plaque on the top too.

Why couldn't you just write it on the top with chocolate buttercream and give it a pretty chocolate buttercream border?

Or you can ice the top of the cake in chocolate buttercream (with the coconut pecan icing on the sides) then write on that.

You can also try using choclate ganache. I've seen GC Cakes with ganache decorations on them. . .I think you should be able to write with it. . .

You can go this rout and put a plaque or you could write in chocolate thinned with a little veg. shortening on parchment, then when its dry slide a spatula under it to loosen and just place the words on the cake.
