I was wondering what people used when they "painted" on cakes? I was hoping to try this for a pillow birthday cake I am making soon. Thanks for the help!

If you are trying to get the "sparkle" effect. Mix vodka or lemon extract with Super Pearl Luster Dust or colored luster dust.

If you are wanting to "paint" detail work (like scrolls etc) you mix vodka or lemon extract with gel color or liquid color. (use a practice piece to get the effect you want first).

Hope this helps. (practice a bit on a streach of fondant)

Ditto to what pinkbox just said.

Make sure you only use a tiny amount of alcohol/extract though. I use an eye dropper as it's really easy to water it down far too much!
