1st - this site is amazing I found it about a month ago & am addicted!
I'm doing a baby shower cake in a couple weeks and have been asked to do strawberry layers and chocolate layers. I found the 2 recipes above and like them but I don't know how to modify them to get the flavors I need. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advise in advance!

Hi and Welcome to CC, kim2733. icon_smile.gif

Link to CC acronyms:

The WASC cake and its variations are very popular on CC. The recipe has the reliability of a cake mix but with a more homemade taste.

Here's the expanded flavors recipe:

Using DH white cakes mixes, the full recipe yields a tad over 14 cups of batter which is great for larger pans or multiple smaller ones.

If you're making a sheet cake, the above recipe will yield enough batter for two 13x9x2 layers or one 12x18x2 layer.

To make a WASC cake into a strawberry cake, just use strawberry extract in place of almond and vanilla. (Other options are also given in the above link.)

Another recipe I really like is from blakescakes:
(However, it doesn't make as much as the WASC cake recipe.)

(This recipe uses buttermilk, and pudding mix.)

Look forward to seeing pics of your shower cake!
