Hi everyone, I am making a 3D cake of Shrek's head for this weekend. I want to use all cake for the head and I have figuered I would cook 4 10" rounds with a support after 4" (in the middle of the head) and cover it in fondant. I am a little nervous the fondant will make the whole head sort of shrink...

It needs to feed 40 people, do you think that is enough cake after I will carve some of it?

I am trying to decide what to use as the base and if I need some shoulders etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for me for the basic assembly of the cake and the base of the cake?

Thanks!

Why don't you try to carve the head out of Rice Krispy Treats and cover with Fondant? It wouldn't be so heavey then.
