Here is my entry for the Beginners division, tiered specialty cakes. I took second place my first time competing. I know this sounds silly, as I do not do this professionally, but I am so proud and have been grinning like an idiot since yesterday! icon_smile.gif

Special thanks to Sharon AKA Sugarshack and Beth Parvu (www.sugarpaste.com) for their guidance and cools cake supplies/tool/toys. icon_biggrin.gif

BEAUTIFUL CAKE!!!! May I ask what brand of square pan you use? I have a wedding cake coming up with square layers....I have wilton pans. They are always rounded when I ice them. Am I doing it wrong...or is it the pan?

Not called Mid Atlantic cake show anymore though! Its now The Great American Cake Show. Still held at the fairgrounds in Westminster.

So I guess they split up the mid-atlantic show into two separate shows. The other show is going to be May 2-3rd at the Shipley arena in MD. http://www.greatamericancakeshow.com/

I'm not sure which one to go to...don't think I can do both since I live in RI.

Yah, they think that it would cut down on the amount of entries. Dont know if that will work or not since you can enter both!!
Where abouts in RI are you from? Im originally from SE CT.

I'm in Barrington, which is about 10 minutes outside Providence. There's actually a cake show in CT coming up at the end of Feb. in Hartford.

Do you still live near CT?
