Not So Sweet Icing

Normally I tell people, it's icing, it's sugar, it's sweet. But, I was asked to do this wedding.. it's April 17th today and it's a July 5th wedding. It IS a platinum wedding. Price is not an issue, the bride wants a not too sweet icing, not whipped cream. HELP!!!

She tried my regular buttercream and thought it was way too sweet. I use 1 stick salted butter, 1 cup crisco, 2 Tablespoons meringue powder, 2 pounds p. sugar and water.

Generally, the meringue buttercreams are perceived as not being overly sweet. However, they won't crust, if that makes a difference.
