I have just been asked to make a 3-D Thing 1 and Thing 2 birthday cake for twins. Any suggestions on how I can go about making this? I want them to be the actual cake (hopefully!)

They just did a Dr. Seus challange recently on Food Network. The competitor who had "The Cat in the Hat" made the red box with Thing 1 and Thing 2 coming out of it. I think that the box was cake and the Things were fondant covered rice krispy treat.

I saw that Food Network challenge too but I honestly don't think I could do those Things. They looked way beyond my skill level.
