I was wondering if anyone knew a way I could make a cupcake shaped cake without having to buy one of those fancy $30 baking pans. I would stack regular circled cakes on top of each other but I'm trying to get the same zig zag pattern a cupcake has along the outside. Any ideas or tips? Thanks.

it would probably take some time but you could always carve the bottom. just cut v-shaped pieces out of the sides, i feel like the beauty of this is that cupcakes arent perfect so there is some margin for error. then you could use fondant to make the wrapper, then actual buttercream as the icing for the cake.. i must say a very cute idea!
