Pope's Birthday Cake

On Fox News this afternoon the home page photo was a picture of the Pope near his tiered birthday cake at the White House.

Anyone know who did the cake? It was simple yellow buttercream squares with fondant ribbon and bow around each base. The icing didn't even look smooth. I'm like "Hey I coulda done THAT." LOL.

More than likely was done by one of the White House chefs. Wish I had seen it!

He must have had more than one cake. I found this where a bakery in Maryland made his cake and it was made to look like the Vatican. Has a short clip showing them making it.

that's terrible representation of how cakes are made, she keeps saying we have only 1 day to make the Vatican...right. Like that cake took only 1 day? I dont think so.
The gum paste would alone take more than that to dry!
Bad for people to see, they then will really think why cant you make this cake with 4 days notice they made the vatican in 1 day after all! icon_rolleyes.gif

does anyone remember the episode of Ace of Cakes where another baker called and asked duff to do a gumball machine cake for a girls bat mitzvah? that's the SAME woman!!!!!!
