Which is better, fondant or gumpaste? Why? What are the major differences between the two? Thanks for any imput. I'm trying to do a baby shower cake and am unsure of which to use to make baby blocks and baby clothes cutouts.

it depends what ur trying to make. if you want to make something to dry hard like a shoe or handle, i would use gumpste becuase it drys harder ad faster. if you wat something softer or are trying to cover a cake you should use fondant

I always use fondant for my baby blocks I have attached a pic of blocks made just out of fondant...I just let them dry for a day or two. With the clothes....if you are sticking them to the side of the cake I would use fondant so it stays soft to shape to the cake but if you are hanging them on a clothes line etc...I would use gumpaste as it dries better.

I like to mix fondant and gumpaste. I like the texture and it's a little bit easier to use except on flowers, then it's only gumpaste
