Maybe you could add some paint brushes made from fondant. Also you do could pipe the names of artist from the past. Like, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Norman Rockwell, Leonardo Da Vinci, John William Waterhouse, Salvador Dali.

Hope this helps.
God Bless,

My first thought was to make the cake board very thick (several layers of cardboard), cover it with white freezer paper, and draw with a Sharpie on the sides to make it look like a canvass stretched over a board.

What if you did the board to resemble an ornate wood frame, or super gold dust?

my first thought was a painter's palette...like the traditional sort of kidney-shaped one with the round puddles of color all the way around it, and then a few fondant paintbrushes laying on it. i guess it'd depend on the actual cake what would look best.

My hubby is an artist. What if you tried to make the cake board look like an easel?

I saw a cute cake recently, not on CC though, not sure where. Anyway it had tubes of paint with "paint" sqeezed out of the top.
