My friend could not find CMC or Tylose. Instead the shop gave her Gum arabic, but couldn't tell her how to use it. Please help me. How much must I use for modelling paste etc. Is it more or less the same as Tylose?

Gum Arabic isn't a substitute for CMC, Tylose or Gum-tex. It can be mixed with water and brushed onto dried gumpaste shapes for shine, or added to royal icing for strength. Gum tracaganth or gum karaya are what you need for gum paste.

So she can't add it to fondant to make it more solid.
