O h I wish I had seen this post 2 months ago when my first bow turned into a glob of RI and drooping loops, what a mess my first disaster was and no time to make a new one before customer pick up I was able to make one for a wedding later that month with candy melts and it was geat since it was white, but for a colored bow this is it! I will make one tomorrow to practice. Thank you
WOW! I am a little alte to this thread... BUT thanks for this tutorial!! It will come in REALLY handy!
I have to make my first bow this weekend and I am really nervous. This looks like a great alternative and I am so glad I found this thread.
Thanks!
Just wondered if anyone has tried this method yet and how they liked using it ? Or if they had to make any changes ?Thanks

Someone around page 2-3 (I think) said the yused this method and it worked fine.
cakequeen, I want to thank you for sharing your tutorial with us all.
I did a wedding cake this weekend and I used your method and OMG!!
it was a "breeze" to just pop those toothpicks into the top of the cake.....
The only thing I should have done was the bottom layer against the cake
I should have laid a bit more flat.........but you live and learn.
Now I know for next time.
Will post picture later.
I have tried this method too but with wire. It was wonderful!! I tried the original way and my bow never held up. It just drooped!! Made me so mad!!! This way is much easier and looks much cleaner!!
your cake is wonderful and i'm a very visual learner so thank you so much for sharing your method-i'll have to give it a go
Charmaine, So glad you tried it and liked it! Yes, in the instructions, I should have said to make some for the bottom row without the toothpicks to lay flat.
Thanks for the feed back!
This make is looks so "easy". I am going to try this technique on my next cake. Thanks for sharing.
cakequeen Thanks for coming back and yes, that does make sense to make a few without toothpicks to lay flat...
well, now I know for next time
Thank you so much cakequeen50 for sharing your technique. I think it is very good and I will try it out someday.
Thanks
Thanks so much. These look a lot easier than what i have been struggling with. What is gum glue?

Gum glue is about a pea size piece of gumpaste dissolved in 1 TBSP water. Use it to glue pieces together and it doesn't leave a shine on the finished product like egg white does.
THANK YOU!!!! I am a newbie so I hope I dont weary you with questions. (LOL)
Well first off, WELCOME to CC (better known as your new addiction!) Second, sharing is what we're all about -- ask all the questions you like, there's a veritable wealth of information here. Glad we could help!
how do you make the edges of your bow a different color so it is two toned?
Thanks,
Lou
I believe you have to roll out (use a clay gun) a string of colored fondant/gp whatevere you are using and then add the line to each side of each ribbon piece, securing it with a little glue, water or I use vodka.
